Projects

Below are projects from internships and relevant undergraduate coursework that demonstrate my writing, editing, research, and marketing skills that I developed and sharpened over the last few years. Click the pictures on the right side of each box to view each artifact.

Press Release

Intern

While interning with the writers' group that hosts an annual literary festival, I tailored this press release to students at two local universities, encouraging them to attend the festival that focuses on literary appreciation, education, youth programs, and writers. I sent this press release to administration at both universities so they could distribute the information to students. This artifact displays my ability to edit and write a piece to market toward a specific group of people.

Social Media Analysis

Student

One of my first class assignments during my graduate studies was composing an analysis of the evolution of a particular social media platform. I chose Vine, a short-lived, video-sharing platform that made its mark on social media history through memorable six-second videos. In my analysis, I detail Vine's rise and fall within the digital world.

"Ice Flyers" Story

Intern

From August to November of 2024, I interned with Ballinger Publishing, a local magazine publishing company, and composed several articles for two of the company's magazines. This article in Downtown Crowd showcases my creative storytelling skills combined with a presentation of factual elements of Pensacola's professional hockey team's 2024-25 season. I gathered information about the season from the marketing director and the team's website.

"Fall into Fun" Article

Intern

This story found in Pensacola Magazine is another one that I wrote as an intern with Ballinger Publishing. The article is a creative summary of local festivals and events happening during the month of publication. The primary sources I used to gather information about the events were the website pages for the festivals and events and individuals involved in the production of the events.

"Publishing" Proposal

Course Project

For a course assignment, I composed a proposal for an improvement upon or suggestion for something in the field that I wanted to pursue - which, at the time, was the publishing industry. Focusing on the digital sphere, I presented a mock proposal for independent publishing companies to create their own digital platforms for eBooks and book reviews. This PowerPoint proposal demonstrates my ability to produce effective and persuasive digital media. I also showcase my writing and research skills in this proposal.

Sample Podcast Episode

Course Project

This project is a podcast episode that I created for a final course assignment for a digital writing class. In the episode, I break down the biographical lyrics to the song "the last great american dynasty" by Taylor Swift. This multimodal artifact demonstrates several skills, including script writing and editing, clip editing, and research. Click the "Play" button below to listen.
